  2. Please read  Terms and Conditions and confirm you have read them by ticking the appropriate box on the Registration form
  3. Please confirm you are in good physical and mental health and are able to take part in the walk by accurately completing the relevant section on the registration form.
  4. Select the all-the-way box to confirm you are participating in the whole event from start to finish.

  7. The next step is to register your fundraising page at www.kissgoodbyetoms.org. Those going all the way are encouraged to set a target of $10,000. Please note this amount is in addition to your personal funding of all travel and accommodation expenses. With limited accommodation in some towns we would encourage you to book early. The same can be said for securing airfares and train travel or car hire to get to St Bees and from Robin Hood’s Bay.
  8. If you would like your fundraising page to be included under Wainwright’s Coast2Coast MS Walk’s Team just register your interest at the same time you set up your individual fundraising page or contact the KGTMS website administrators directly if you require any assistance. We trust you will be inspired by the other team members and set an adventurous target.

Many of the existing team members are already busily thinking up additional fundraising activities to the walk (movie nights, cake stalls, BBQs, Ebay your old wardrobe, bush dances, wine tastings etc.) which will assist them reach their target. And, of course, we encourage you to ask your family and friends to support your efforts with direct donations. Any donations over $2 are tax deductible. The KGTMS website automatically issues receipts via email.

We know you are primarily participating in this adventure because you want to meet us and hopefully engage with other people living with MS, either directly or indirectly as a family member or friend, but your main reason for participating in this event is because you really want to change the lives of people living with this disease and hopefully prevent future generations even contracting it and this can only be done if we raise a lot of money for vital research into finding a cure.

So get your fundraising thinking caps on, have some small fundraising events before you join us and ask all your friends and family to support your incredible effort in undertaking this challenging adventure. We value your support and welcome you to this exciting fundraising initiative. Let’s give it our best shot. You never know. We might even raise $150,000 before we even set our feet on British shores and if the Brits can come anywhere close to our efforts this is going to be a very significant international fundraising event.

UK Volunteers

Please contact us via email  to register your availability and what you feel you may be able to assist us with. The type of assistance we need includes:

  • experienced fell and moor walkers
  • accredited hiking guides. We are most fortunate to have the guiding experience of Chris Ainsworth, a fully qualified mountain leader from Alpine Adventures for some of the more difficult terrain in the Lake and North York Moor Districts but if interest is strong additional guides will be needed so we would love to hear from you if this fantastic fundraising adventure appeals to you.
  • photographers
  • volunteers to man fundraising and information booths
  • volunteers to organise and host any intra-event fundraisers in towns along the route ie. movie/trivia/wine & cheese nights. At this stage the MS Society’s Hambleton and Richmondshire  branch will be hosting a night of entertainment at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond to support their local branch on Saturday September 6, 2014. More details to follow early next year.
  • farewell/welcome groups to encourage the walkers as we pass through the key towns

We welcome your interest in this wonderful event and hope you will be able to have as much fun as we are having, even now in the early planning stages, living the journey. We greatly appreciate your interest in our cause and thank you, in advance, for your pledges of support.

  1. Hi.
My name is Chris Ainsworth and I am a friend of Jacky Ballard who has family members involved in the C2C walk next September. I am an International Mountain Leader and live in the north of England for half the year and the French Alps for the other half. I walked the C2C earlier this year and know the route extremely well. I would love to get involved in this event. I think the obvious way is for me to lead participants through sections of the walk. I know the Lake District particularly well and would be keen to guide people through this region, although I would be delighted to help in other areas the walk passes through. Please do get in touch if you feel I can be of any help

  2. Hi, Chris. Welcome aboard! Katrina and I (Mike) are delighted that you would like to be involved and we thank you very much for your offer to guide the group. Katrina would love to do the high routes on every possible occasion and expertise like yours will be invaluable. If you would like to, we can set up a phone or Skype call at a mutually convenient time. Please contact us on the Walk email, c2cmswalk@gmail.com, at your convenience.

  4. David and I did the Coast to Coast walk in May June this year, Was a wonderful experience and would like to send Best Wishes for fine weather and great walking to all the C to C MS walkers. Enjoy
Sue and david Allen, North Sydney, N.S. W. Australia

    • Thank you, Sue, for your comment and encouraging words. So glad to hear it was wonderful. We are hoping for fine weather but that is the one variable we cannot control, as you know very well.
We kick off on Saturday, 30 Aug, just 2 days from now. We are all very excited. We will all be together for the first time at our pre-start dinner on Friday night and we are looking forward to meeting all fellow walkers and fundraisers in St Bees that night.
      Best regards… Mike

Hi I will be supporting Debbie Bird and her fellow walkers sat 6th sept. Can anyone tell me about the fundraising event on sat evening – would we be able to join? Do we need tickets? I would be happy to support on Saturday if needed. Best wishes caroline

    • Hi, Caroline. Thank you for supporting Debbie and our team. I’m not sure there are any fundraising events scheduled for our time in Richmond (6 & 7 Sept). Saturday evening is a private get together with members of the Richmond Branch of the MS Society UK that just a few team members will attend. Saturday is also the day on which we reach Richmond. Thank you for your offer of support but I don’t think that there is anything that needs doing.
One other way to support Debbie is to donate to her JustGiving page which can be found under the Donate tab on this blog.
Let us know if you have further questions and I hope we get to meet you in Richmond.
      Kind regards… Mike

Thanks Mike. I am planning to donate but wanted to return to school first and see if I can drum up a few more funds from my colleagues – looking forward to meeting everyone at the weekend. I hope the weather is kind to you guys.
    Caroline
